Orange County is on the Cusp of Change
The UC Irvine Community and Labor Project and the UCLA Labor Center just released a new report on Orange County’s changing demographics and political landscape – Orange County on the Cusp of Change.
Orange County has a reputation as the Southern California center of conservatism, wealth and affluence. However this story hides the vast economic inequality and social disparities within the region. Orange County on the Cusp of Change finds that Orange County is on the cusp of several demographic, economic and political tipping points. Download the report.
On July 1, over 100 Orange County community leaders, labor leaders, and researchers met to discuss findings from the report and strategize about the future of social change in the region. The evening also marked the launch of the UC Irvine Community and Labor Project, which will be a hub for data related to the county, community-driven research and collaborative partnerships.
