The Office of Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez, Los Angeles City Council District 13, will be hosting a special FREE film screening at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre, on Wednesday, August 20, from 7pm to 9pm (Doors at 6pm). 

Filmmaker Karen Hayes will be showing clips from her upcoming documentary feature A Better Way: James Lawson, Architect of Non-Violence. The film chronicles the life and work of Reverend Lawson, with an emphasis on the power of nonviolent direct action. 

A special panel conversation on the power of non-violence will follow the screening, moderated by Emely Rauda of the UCLA Labor Center.
