Emily Jo Wharry

Emily Jo Wharry is the Director of Communications for the UCLA Labor Center. She is passionate about using collaborative storytelling and dynamic multimedia to advocate for equity. Her professional background spans multiple nonprofits and international corporations. Prior to joining the communications field, she was a Los Angeles-based journalist. She graduated cum laude from Occidental College, where she double-majored in politics and history and served as the campus newspaper’s editor-in-chief. There, she received the Hardy Prize for best senior history thesis, the Jaquette Prize for politics department seniors with the greatest community impact, and the Dean’s Award for Equity, Excellence, Community, and Service. She is currently a graduate student in the master of public administration program at California State University, Los Angeles.
